Softball Recap: Five Straight Road Wins for Fort Defiance

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Fort Defiance ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They won by a run and slipped past the Stuarts Draft Cougars 4-3. The victory continues a trend for the Indians in their matchups with the Cougars: they've now won three in a row.

Fort Defiance pushed their record up to 12-4 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.2 runs over those games. As for Stuarts Draft, they moved to 9-9 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Fort Defiance will square off against Wilson Memorial at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Stuarts Draft, they will take on Buckingham at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Knights' pitching crew has only allowed 2.8 runs per game this season, so the Cougars' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
