Softball Game Preview: East Surry Cardinals vs. Watauga Pioneers

The East Surry Cardinals will take on the Watauga Pioneers at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Watauga took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on East Surry, who comes in off a win.

East Surry took a loss when they played away from home on Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Thursday. They walked away with an 8-3 victory over North Stokes. The win continues a trend for the Cardinals in their matchups with the Vikings: they've now won four in a row.

Meanwhile, Watauga was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They took a 10-6 hit to the loss column at the hands of Ashe County.

Presli Wood was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Elizabeth Watson, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

East Surry's victory bumped their record up to 8-11. As for Watauga, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-14.
