Basketball Recap: Delavan Takes a Loss

Delavan lost against Pekin back in December of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. The Delavan Panthers came up short against the Pekin Dragons, falling 73-52. The Panthers just can't catch a break and have now endured three losses in a row.

Despite the defeat, Delavan saw an underclassman step up: freshman Grady Burrell went 8 for 14from beyond the arc on his way to 26 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Burrell has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Bryson Horning, who posted eight points in addition to 12 boards and seven assists.

Delavan's loss dropped their record down to 1-7. As for Pekin, their win bumped their record up to 4-2.

Delavan will face off against El Paso-Gridley at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday. As for Pekin, they will challenge Washington at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Pekin is facing Washington at the right time seeing as Washington is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
