Softball Recap: Green Valley Comes Up Short

Green Valley fell victim to Palo Verde and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They lost 9-0 to the Panthers. Having soared to a lofty 12 runs in the game before, the Gators' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Green Valley saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lyla Baxter, who went 1-for-3 with one triple. Baxter is on a roll when it comes to triples, as she's now hit at least one in each of the last three games she's played.

Green Valley's loss dropped their record down to 8-6. As for Palo Verde, their win was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-0.

Coming up, Green Valley will be playing in front of their home fans against Centennial at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. Centennial's pitching crew has only allowed 4.1 runs per game this season, so Green Valley's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Palo Verde, they will square off against Faith Lutheran at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Faith Lutheran has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.63 runs per game on average), something Palo Verde will no doubt try to take advantage of.
