            The Westfield Blue Devils will take on the Hunterdon Central Red Devils at 4:15  p.m.  on Thursday. The two teams are strolling into their  matches after big wins in their previous games.
Westfield barely beat Cranford the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Blue Devils put the hurt on the Cougars with a sharp  9-2 win on Tuesday. The result was nothing new for the Blue Devils, who have now won five games by seven  runs or more  so far this season.
 Jack Doherty spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered  just two earned runs on ten hits.
 On the hitting side,  the team  relied heavily on  Charlie McCormack, who  got on base  in all four of his plate appearances with two  runs, one  triple,  and one  stolen base. The dominant performance also gave  him a new career-high in  RBI (two). Another player making a difference was  Pete Cabrales, who  got on base  in three of his four plate appearances with two  runs and one  double.
 Westfield  kept the outfield on their toes and  finished the game with 12  hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their  hit total in three consecutive  contests.
 Meanwhile, Hunterdon Central waltzed into their match  on Wednesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Rangers  a   6-0 shutout.
 Westfield is  on a roll lately: they've  won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record  this season. Those  victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.8 runs on average over those games. As for Hunterdon Central, their win bumped their record up to 14-4.
