Basketball Recap: Freeland Comes Up Short

It was a Battle of the Birds when Freeland duked it out withFrankenmuth on Friday. The Freeland Falcons took a blow against the Frankenmuth Eagles, falling 60-33. The contest marked the Falcons' lowest-scoring match so far this season.

Frankenmuth's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Izzy Bernthal, who went 7 of 14 on her way to 17 points and six rebounds. Those 17 points gave Bernthal a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Clare Conzelmann, who went 8 of 13 on her way to 20 points.

Freeland's loss ended a five-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 4-2. As for Frankenmuth, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 5-2.

Freeland will be playing in front of their home fans against Alma at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Frankenmuth, they will venture away from home to square off against Garber at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
