Preview: Cross Trojans vs. Baptist Hill Bobcats
Cross has enjoyed the comforts of home their last three games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will challenge the Baptist Hill Bobcats at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the pair will really light up the scoreboard.
Last Monday, Cross didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Military Magnet Academy, but they still walked away with a 62-57 victory.
Cross found their leader in underclassman Caden Ramsey, who scored 27 points along with nine rebounds and three steals. Ramsey is absolutely dominating the steal category: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Jamez Way was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with nine assists and four steals.
Meanwhile, Baptist Hill strolled past Palmetto Scholars Academy with points to spare on Wednesday, taking the game 66-47. The win made it back-to-back wins for Baptist Hill.
Rickey Middleton Jr was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 18 points and ten rebounds. Middleton Jr is absolutely dominating the steal category: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Justin Porter, who scored 17 points.
Cross has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-4 record this season. As for Baptist Hill, their victory bumped their record up to 5-7.
Cross beat Baptist Hill 58-51 in their previous matchup on January 10th. The rematch might be a little tougher for Cross since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
