Basketball Recap: Spring Valley's Luck Changes for the Better on Friday

Spring Valley had lost three straight headed into Friday's matchup, but Mia Ervin didn't let it get to four. The Spring Valley Grizzlies claimed a resounding 69-29 win over the Las Vegas Wildcats thanks in part to Ervin, who dropped a double-double on 28 points and ten steals. She has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times she's played.

Mckenyia Pittman was another key player, putting up four points along with nine boards and five steals. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in blocks (three).

Despite the loss, Las Vegas saw an underclassman step up: freshman Sariyah Johnson dropped a double-double on 11 points and 14 rebounds.

Spring Valley's victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 9-6. As for Las Vegas, their defeat was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 3-11.

Spring Valley didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 63-30 win against Palo Verde on the 16th. As for Las Vegas, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 58-10 loss against Bishop Gorman on the 14th.
