Basketball Recap: Mountain Range Comes Up Short

Mountain Range was the 63-53 winner over Northglenn when they last played one another on January 6th, but their luck changed this time around. The Mustangs fell 63-52 to the Norsemen on Saturday. While the Mustangs didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Norsemen 14-10 in the first quarter.

Despite the loss, Mountain Range still got an impressive performance from Preston Brunton, who went 14-for-31 to rack up 39 points and five boards. The game was Brunton's 16th in a row with at least 23 points. Jacoby Varela was another key player, putting up five points and three steals.

Northglenn's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but ?? ? led the charge by almost dropping a double-double with 15 points and nine rebounds. Those nine boards gave ? a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Ethan Mayle, who posted 11 points.

Mountain Range has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups. That lines up perfectly with their 4-12 record this season. Those defeats can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.5 points over those games. As for Northglenn, the victory got them back to even at 8-8.

Mountain Range has already played their next contest, an 80-55 loss against Westminster on the 27th. As for Northglenn, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 75-64 defeat against Riverdale Ridge on the 27th.
