The Cuero Gobblers will head out on the road to square off against the Pearsall Mavericks at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Cuero is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10.5 runs per game this season.

Cuero is probably headed into the match with a chip on their shoulder considering Goliad just ended the team's seven-game winning streak on Thursday. They fell just short of the Tigers by a score of 9-8.

Meanwhile, Pearsall waltzed into their contest on Monday with three straight wins... but they left with four. Everything went their way against the Owls as they made off with a 16-2 win. Considering the Mavericks have won ten games by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Kristen Morales made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. In other batting news, Pearsall got a massive performance out of Jeralynn Gutierrez, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. Alayna Zapata was another key player, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

Pearsall was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .562. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .320 or higher in six consecutive matches.

Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Thursday. Cuero hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.5 home runs per game. However, it's not like Pearsall struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 0.6 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
