Football Game Preview: Gibbon Buffaloes vs. Fillmore Central Panthers

The Gibbon Buffaloes will head out to face off against the Fillmore Central Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Gibbon's offense hasn't had much luck over their past three contests, but Friday's matchup will give them a chance to turn things around.

Gibbon's last matchup with Wood River could've gone either way, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the pair's game on Friday. The Buffaloes were beaten by the Eagles 64-6. The Buffaloes were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 50-0.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Fillmore Central faced off against Doniphan-Trumbull on Friday. The Panthers had to suffer through a 62-28 loss at the hands of the Cardinals. The Panthers were down 48-20 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.

Gibbon will have to contain Preston Komenda as he made an impact in Fillmore Central's last game. He threw for 121 yards and three touchdowns, and also rushed for 30 yards.

Gibbon's defeat dropped their record down to 1-6. As for Fillmore Central, their loss dropped their record down to 2-5.

Gibbon was able to grind out a solid win over Fillmore Central in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, winning 21-12. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Buffaloes since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
