Basketball Recap: South Barber Comes Up Short

South Barber played a tough match on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They had to suffer through a 69-28 loss at the hands of the Cunningham Wildcats. The loss continues a trend for the Chieftains in their matchups with the Wildcats: they've now lost nine in a row.

Will Wegerer was his usual excellent self, going 8 of 11 en route to 21 points and seven steals for Cunningham. Wegerer is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 21 or more in the last ten games he's played dating back to last season. The team also got some help courtesy of Dagim Reed, who went 5 for 11 on his way to 12 points along with five assists and four steals.

South Barber's defeat dropped their record down to 3-6. As for Cunningham, the win keeps them at an undefeated 8-0.

South Barber will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Attica at 7:00 p.m. on February 4th. As for Cunningham, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, an 80-39 victory against Kinsley on the 18th.
