Basketball Preview: Palmer Ridge Bears vs. Lutheran Lions
The Palmer Ridge Bears will be playing at home against the Lutheran Lions at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Palmer Ridge has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games.
You can't lose the contest if you win every quarter, and that was precisely Palmer Ridge's strategy against the Thunder on Wednesday. Palmer Ridge strolled past the Thunder with points to spare, taking the game 62-45. That's two games straight that Palmer Ridge has won by exactly 17 points.
Palmer Ridge can attribute much of their success to Delanie Mcmullen, who scored 15 points. Taylor Peterson was another key contributor, scoring four points along with ten rebounds and five assists.
Meanwhile, Lutheran made easy work of the Red-Tailed Hawks on Wednesday and carried off a 41-20 win. Given Lutheran's advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 83rd, while the Red-Tailed Hawks are ranked 243rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Lutheran found their leader in underclassman Berkley Schneider, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 12 rebounds. Schneider is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last eight games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayda Vigil, who scored eight points along with eight steals.
Palmer Ridge's victory bumped their record up to 12-7. As for Lutheran, their win was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-9.
