Baseball Game Preview: Deep Run Wildcats vs. Gainesville Cardinals

The Deep Run Wildcats are taking a road trip to square off against the Gainesville Cardinals on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Deep Run 3.2, Gainesville 2.4) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Deep Run heads in on the heels of a playoff contest on Thursday. They fell just short of Glen Allen by a score of 1-0.

Will Frank spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on seven hits. He has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Deep Run saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Eric Skowycz, who went 1-for-3 with one triple. That triple marked the first that Skowycz has hit this season.

Meanwhile, Gainesville faced Battlefield in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. The Cardinals won by a run and slipped past the Bobcats 5-4. The win was nothing new for the Cardinals as they're now sitting on four straight.

Gainesville's victory bumped their record up to 20-4. As for Deep Run, their loss dropped their record down to 15-9.
