Basketball Recap: Marquette Catholic Triumphs

Marquette Catholic's game last Tuesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Thursday. They managed a 53-49 victory over the Roxana Shells. This was a revenge game for the Explorers: when they faced off against the Shells back in December of 2024, they had to take a 48-37 loss.

Roxana's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Sean Maberry, who almost dropped a double-double on 11 points and nine boards. Trenton Hollaway was another key player, going 5 for 8 en route to 14 points.

Marquette Catholic is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 10-11 record this season. As for Roxana, they have also traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-12 record this season.

Marquette Catholic will face off against Greenville at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Roxana, they will take on Nokomis at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday.
