Baseball Recap: Kerr-Vance Academy Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Kerr-Vance Academy, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Tuesday. They won by a run and slipped past the Lawrence Academy Warriors 8-7. This was payback for the Spartans, who suffered a 10-0 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Ayden Devine was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). Kerr-Vance Academy is 2-1 when Devine allowsone or fewer hits, but 0-3 otherwise. Devine was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one home run and three runs. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March of 2024.

In other batting news, MJ Wright was excellent, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. Evan Johnson also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Kerr-Vance Academy's record is now 2-4. As for Lawrence Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 1-4.

Kerr-Vance Academy has already played their next game, an 8-6 defeat against Faith Christian on the 18th. As for Lawrence Academy, they will look to defend their home field on Wednesday against Pungo Christian Academy at 6:00 p.m. The last four games Lawrence Academy has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
