Softball Recap: Mount View Triumphs

It was close, but on Thursday the Mount View Golden Knights sidestepped the Van Bulldogs for a 7-5 win.

Phoebe Dudgeon spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and three unearned) runs on three hits and racked up 17 Ks. Those 17 strikeouts gave her a new career-high.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Malayah Barnes, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

Mount View now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Van, their defeat was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-6.

Coming up, Mount View will venture away from home to face off against WestSide at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Van, they will welcome River View at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
