Fans were treated to a battle of the Hawks on Wednesday. Viera sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 win over Spruce Creek. Viera has seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw Spruce Creek, too.
Viera wouldn't go down easily and took Spruce Creek into a fifth set where they got it done with a three-point win. The match finished with set scores of 19-25, 25-14, 20-25, 25-18, 15-12.
Emery Hart paced Viera's offense, picking up 16 kills. Hart got some help from Libby Williams and her 22 assists. Ella Brand controlled things from the service line, finishing with seven aces.
When it comes to explaining why Spruce Creek lost, don't look at Logan Milan. Despite the final result, she had 45 digs and three aces. Milan is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had 12 or more in each of the last three games she's played. Evelyn Webb was another key player, getting 16 assists and ten digs.
