While Liberty's win against Hempstead wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Lightning narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Mustangs 6-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Lightning have posted since May 29th.

The victory made it two in a row for Liberty and bumps their season record up to 13-12. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 5 runs in those games. As for Hempstead, their loss was their fifth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 9-17.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Liberty will challenge Ottumwa at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Bulldogs' pitching crew has only allowed 3.8 runs per game this season, so the Lightning's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Hempstead, they will face off against Independence at 7:15 p.m. on the 30th.
