Softball Recap: Phoebus Phantoms vs. Hampton Crabbers
In what's become a running theme this season, Phoebus gave their fans yet another huge victory on Tuesday. Everything went their way against the Hampton Crabbers as the Phoebus Phantoms made off with a 19-7 win. That's more bragging rights for Phoebus, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.
Tahirah Tyler was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out 12 batters over six innings while giving up five earned (and two unearned) runs off only two hits. Tyler has been consistent recently: she hasn't pitched less than five innings in six consecutive pitching appearances. Tyler was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in three of her five plate appearances.
In other batting news, Phoebus got a massive performance out of Courtney Shelton, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 4-for-5. Suniya White was another key contributor, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while going 3-for-5.
Phoebus now has a winning record of 10-9. As for Hampton, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-12-2.
