Baseball Game Preview: Georgetown-Ridge Farm/Chrisman Buffaloes vs. Villa Grove Blue Devils

The Georgetown-Ridge Farm/Chrisman Buffaloes will head out on the road to take on the Villa Grove Blue Devils at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Georgetown-Ridge Farm/Chrisman has given up an average of 8.6 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Monday just wasn't the day for Georgetown-Ridge Farm/Chrisman's offense. They lost 12-0 to Oakwood on Monday. The Buffaloes have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, Villa Grove didn't have quite enough to beat Central A & M on Tuesday and fell 6-4.

Cooper Clark put in work no matter where he played. He struck out ten batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and five unearned) runs off five hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one run and one double.

In other batting news, Gavin Taylor was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with two runs. Jesse Gire also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Villa Grove has been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-14 record this season. As for Georgetown-Ridge Farm/Chrisman, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-19.

Georgetown-Ridge Farm/Chrisman suffered a grim 10-4 defeat to Villa Grove in their previous matchup back in March of 2024. Can the Buffaloes avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
