Basketball Recap: Bear Creek Drops Season-High Score on Bella Vista

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Bear Creek). They ended the year with a bang, routing the Bella Vista Broncos 74-52 on Saturday. Given the Bruins' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 358th, while the Broncos are ranked 728th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

It was another big night for Elijah Duncan, who posted 24 points. The match was his 12th in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Nemo Lucas, who put up ten points.

When it comes to explaining why Bella Vista lost, don't look at Jonah Wooden. Despite the final result, he had 14 points and eight rebounds. That's the most boards Wooden has posted since back in January of 2024. Another player making a difference was Cael Bird, who earned six points.

Bear Creek is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season. As for Bella Vista, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last nine contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-8 record this season.

Bear Creek wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 64-55 loss against Wood on the 30th. As for Bella Vista, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 66-56 defeat against Antelope on the 3rd.
