Baseball Recap: Switzerland County's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

With a playoff win on the line, Switzerland County rose to the challenge on Thursday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the South Ripley Raiders a 1-0 shutout. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Pacers as it put an end to their four-game losing streak.

The result came thanks to Zayne Smith's shutout, as he gave up just three hits and racked up eight Ks. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Switzerland County is 6-3 when he allows at most two earned runs, but 7-9 otherwise.

At the plate, Switzerland County saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Braxton Eaglin, who went 1-for-3 with one double.

Switzerland County now has a winning record of 13-12. As for South Ripley, they now have a losing record of 8-9.

Coming up, Switzerland County will square off against Austin at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. South Ripley does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
