Baseball Recap: Dobie Takes a Loss

Dobie fought the good fight in their extra-innings matchup against Sterling on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 6-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Rangers. The Longhorns were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Rangers apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in March of 2023.

Dobie got a good showing from Johnjon Cruz, who pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.

At the plate, Max Torres made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases.

Dobie's loss dropped their record down to 0-2.

Dobie will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Goose Creek Memorial at 4:30 p.m. on the 16th. As for Sterling, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Texas City at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
