Softball Recap: Templeton Beats King City for Their Third Straight Win

Templeton proved they can win big on Monday (they won by eight) and on Tuesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They skirted past the King City Mustangs 5-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Eagles have posted since April 24, 2024.

Tegan Jay spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on six hits and racked up 13 Ks. Those 13 strikeouts set a new season-high mark for her.

On the hitting side, Emma Kriling was excellent, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. That stolen base marked the first that she snagged this season. Another player making a difference was Emma Marquart, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.

Templeton always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .514. The last time their OBP was this high was back in March of 2024.

The victory (which was Templeton's third in a row) raised their record to 3-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for King City, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-1.

Templeton didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 14-0 loss against Lompoc on the 7th. King City has also already played their next match (against Santa Cruz), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
