Softball Recap: Tough Loss for Cedar Grove

Cedar Grove was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They came up short against the Luella Lions, falling 18-3.

Natina Lewin made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went a perfect 1-for-1 while posting 4 stolen bases, 1 run, and 1 walk. The game marked her fifth in a row with at least two stolen bases. The team also got some help from Taylor Smith, who got on base in both of her plate appearances while logging 2 stolen bases, 1 run, and 2 walks.

Cedar Grove took advantage of their speed and finished the game with six stolen bases. That marked a season-low in stolen bases for them.

On Luella's side, the team relied heavily on Jamiah Barnes, who went a perfect 2-for-2 while posting 1 home run, 5 RBIs, and 2 stolen bases. Barnes has been locked in at the plate lately, hitting .594 over her last 13 games vs .500 in her previous 14 games. Syriah Shaw was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 while posting 1 home run, 2 RBIs, and 2 runs.

Cedar Grove now has a losing record at 3-4. As for Luella, they have now won 11 of their last 14 games on the road. That run has powered them to a 7-3 record this season.
