Baseball Recap: North Tonawanda Comes Up Short

North Tonawanda extended their losing streak to six on Friday, dropping their season record down to 1-6 in the process. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-1 heartbreaker at the hands of the Kenmore East Bulldogs. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Lumberjacks have suffered against the Bulldogs since May 19, 2019.

Aiden Shingleton spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three earned runs on seven hits and racked up six Ks.

At the plate, North Tonawanda saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Javi Ortiz, who went 1-for-2 with one RBI.

As for Kenmore East, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-5. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 2 run in those games.

On Kenmore East's side, they also let their pitcher toss all seven innings and he was also dialed-in: Brock Israel gave up only one earned run on three hits.

On the hitting side, Evan Adair was excellent, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one double and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Kenmore East will face off against rival Lewiston-Porter at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Someone's luck will take a turn for the better: the Bulldogs have lost three straight at home , while the Lancers have lost four on the road.
