Baseball Recap: Saint Jo Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

Saint Jo can bid farewell to their five-game losing streak thanks to their game on Friday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Bellevue Eagles, sneaking past 8-6. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Panthers have posted since February 22nd.

Brody Morris made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching four innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with one home run and three RBI. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Devin Stewart was excellent, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Mathew Sampson, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2.

The win was their first on the road , bumping their record up to 3-12. As for Bellevue, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-8-1 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Saint Jo will face off against rival Perrin-Whitt at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Bellevue is set to challenge their familiar foe Bryson at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
