Spring Creek skates past Sparks with ease

The Spring Creek Spartans came tearing into Friday's match with eight straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 22.3 points) and they left with even more momentum. They blew past Sparks, posting a 79-18 win at home. Spring Creek's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Darren Bylund was his usual excellent self, going 6 for 10 from beyond the arc en route to 30 points and 2 assists. That makes it three consecutive games in which he has scored at least 25% of Spring Creek's points. Jaron Johnson was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with eight rebounds and three steals.

Spring Creek's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-1. They've been dominating during the matches in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 44.67 points. As for Sparks, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-8.

Spring Creek will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against Idaho Falls at 7:45 p.m. on Thursday. Idaho Falls will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in their respective state's rankings (they are ranked 127th in Idaho, while Spring Creek is ranked 17th in Nevada). Sparks is on the road again on Thursday and play against Pyramid Lake at 1:00 p.m. on December 28th.
