Softball Game Preview: Abington Galloping Ghosts vs. Lower Moreland Lions

The Abington Galloping Ghosts will face off against the Lower Moreland Lions at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with five consecutive losses for Abington and four for Lower Moreland.

Abington came into this matchup off a tough 13-run loss on Thursday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of Quakertown by a score of 6-4 on Wednesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Galloping Ghosts have suffered since April 30, 2024.

Mallory Beal was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-3. Those runs were her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Grace Meehan, who went 3-for-4 with one RBI.

Meanwhile, Lower Moreland lost 17-1 to Upper Moreland on Tuesday.

Abington's loss dropped their record down to 2-6. As for Lower Moreland, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-7.

Abington was able to grind out a solid victory over Lower Moreland in their previous meeting back in May of 2022, winning 7-3. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Galloping Ghosts since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
