Volleyball Recap: Carlie Grant's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Hernando over Lecanto

If Hernando was riding high fresh off their 3-0 takedown of Central on Wednesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Leopards fell 3-1 to the Lecanto Panthers on Thursday. The Leopards were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Panthers apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in October of 2024.

Hernando started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 27-29, 25-14, 25-12, 25-15.

Several Leopards players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Carlie Grant, who had 17 digs and two assists. Grant is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had 17 or more in each of the last six games she's played dating back to last season.

Hernando's defeat dropped their record down to 2-1. As for Lecanto, they pushed their record up to 2-0 with the win, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Coming up, Hernando will take on Nature Coast Tech at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Lecanto, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 3-0 victory against Citrus on the 26th.
