Football Recap: Red Mountain Takes Down Ranked ALA - Queen Creek

Red Mountain faced ALA - Queen Creek in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Mountain Lions narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Patriots 31-28. That's more bragging rights for the Mountain Lions, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

A big part of Red Mountain's victory came down to the chemistry between Caleb Joe and his top target Airreon Windom. Joe threw for 207 yards and a pair of TDs while completing 75% of his passes while Windom picked up 93 receiving yards and one score. Those 93 receiving yards gave Windom a new career-high.

ALA - Queen Creek lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Nash Proctor, who picked up 143 receiving yards and three touchdowns. He showed off some serious burst, connecting on a big catch for 58 yards. Britton Dewitt was another key player, having thrown for 286 yards and three touchdowns.

Red Mountain has started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 37.5 points this season. As for ALA - Queen Creek, their loss dropped their record down to 0-2.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Red Mountain will head out to challenge O'Connor at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for ALA - Queen Creek, they will venture away from home to face off against Chandler at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams might be coming in a bit winded given these two teams combined for 979 yards in their previous games.
