Baseball Recap: St. Mary Catholic Victorious

St. Mary Catholic's game on Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Monday. They came out on top against the Manitowoc Lutheran Lancers by a score of 6-2. That's more bragging rights for the Zephyrs, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Ethan Plutz spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on three hits and racked up six Ks. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Mason Wagner, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. St. Mary Catholic is undefeated when Wagner posts two or more runs, but 3-6 otherwise. Joe Pirillo was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

St. Mary Catholic now has a winning record of 7-6. As for Manitowoc Lutheran, they now have a losing record of 6-7.

Looking ahead, Manitowoc Lutheran will take on Oostburg at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. St. Mary Catholic will be paying especially close attention to the Lancers' contest: after the Lancers face off against the Flying Dutchmen, they'll take on St. Mary Catholic again at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
