Baseball Recap: Lely Comes Up Short

Lely was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They came up short against the Gateway Eagles, falling 8-1. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Eagles this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 19-3 back in February.

Lely saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Aiden Karl, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases. Karl has become a key player for Lely: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 1-14 otherwise.

Lely's defeat dropped their record down to 3-15. As for Gateway, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-4 record this season.

Lely will head out on the road to square off against Southwest Florida Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Gateway, they will welcome IMG Academy White at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
