Softball Game Preview: Rice Lake Warriors vs. Eau Claire North Huskies

For the second straight game, Rice Lake will face off against Eau Claire North. The Warriors will be playing in front of their home fans against the Huskies at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Rice Lake has three straight wins, Eau Claire North has eight straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Rice Lake came out on top against Eau Claire North on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run fifth inning. The Warriors took their matchup against the Huskies 5-1.

Kamryn Kunz made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out 15 over seven innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in nine consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one run and one RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in May of 2024.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ava Anderson, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one double. Another player making a difference was Aubrey Musil, who went 2-for-3 with one home run.

Rice Lake was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Eau Claire North only posted a batting average of .167.

The victory got Rice Lake back to even at 10-10. As for Eau Claire North, their loss dropped their record down to 6-15.

Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Thursday. Rice Lake hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.4 home runs per game. However, it's not like Eau Claire North struggles in that department as they've been averaging 0.4 home runs.
