Softball Recap: Volcano Vista Takes Down Ranked Cibola

Volcano Vista faced Cibola in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Hawks walked away with a 6-3 victory over the Cougars. This was a revenge game for the Hawks: when they faced off against the Cougars back in April, they had to take a 4-2 loss.

Audrianna Jim made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run over seven innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

In other batting news, Lexi Trujillo was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Demi DePaula, who went 1-for-2 with two runs and one double.

Volcano Vista's win ended a five-game drought at home and bumped them up to 10-16. As for Cibola, their defeat ended an eight-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 21-5.

Volcano Vista does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Cibola, they will square off against Albuquerque at 2:00 p.m. on Friday.
