Volleyball Recap: St. Thomas Aquinas Wins High-Profile Matchup Against St. Ursula Academy

St. Thomas Aquinas is ranked highly in their home state and on Saturday they took on another highly ranked team in the form of St. Ursula Academy. The Raiders walked away with a 2-0 win over the Bulldogs. The Raiders have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Bulldogs, too.

St. Thomas Aquinas had a senior duo take command as Hailey Trebbien had nine digs and two aces and Adriana Medrano had 13 digs and three assists. Medrano has been hot recently, having posted 11 or more digs the last three times she's played.

When it comes to explaining why St. Ursula Academy lost, don't look at Penelope Bolinger. Despite the final result, she had 12 digs and one assist.

St. Thomas Aquinas is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-4 record this season. As for St. Ursula Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 8-5.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. St. Thomas Aquinas will take on Archbishop McCarthy at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The game will give the Raiders their first taste of in-conference action this season. As for St. Ursula Academy, they will head out on the road to square off against Mount Notre Dame at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
