Basketball Recap: Saugerties Extends Winning Streak to Four

Saugerties put another one in the bag on Saturday to keep their perfect season alive. They were the clear victor by a 78-54 margin over the North Warren Central Cougars. The Sawyers' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Shyree Laney was nothing short of spectacular: he went 9 of 14 en route to 21 points. Another player making a difference was Myles Coons, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and ten boards.

Saugerties was working as a unit and finished the game with 19 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Loss or not, North Warren Central got some senior leadership from Wyatt Jennings and Elijah Horge. Jennings almost dropped a double-double on 20 points and nine boards, while Horge dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten assists. Those ten assists set a new season-high mark for Horge. The team also got some help courtesy of William Lindsley, who posted four points and six boards.

Saugerties pushed their record up to 4-0 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season. As for North Warren Central, they moved to 4-2 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Saugerties didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 62-61 victory against Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake on the 27th. As for North Warren Central, a feisty cat fight will be fought when the North Warren Central Cougars face off against the Hoosick Falls Panthers at 7:30 p.m. on December 30th. North Warren Central is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 64.2 points per game this season.
