Baseball Recap: Dover-Eyota Victorious

Dover-Eyota's game on Thursday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They skirted past the Lewiston-Altura Cardinals 11-10. The win continues a trend for the Eagles in their matchups with the Cardinals: they've now won five in a row.

Kellen Andring made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in hits (two).

Andring wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Joel Skrukrud, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3. That's the most hits Skrukrud has posted since back in May of 2024. Another was Caleb Kirtz, who scored two runs.

The victory got Dover-Eyota back to even at 2-2. As for Lewiston-Altura, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-3.

Coming up, Dover-Eyota will head out to take on Prescott at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Lewiston-Altura, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Blooming Prairie at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Awesome Blossoms will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something the Cardinals surely won't give up without a fight.
