Baseball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Joe Dougherty and Ethan Ferguson Lead Omaha Central to Victory

Omaha Central barely beat South Sioux City the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Eagles never let the Cardinals get on the board and left with a 10-0 victory on Monday. The Eagles haven't had any issues with the Cardinals recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

Grant Hamill looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out seven over four innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Omaha Central let Ethan Ferguson and Joe Dougherty run wild. Ferguson got on base in all three of his plate appearances with four stolen bases and three runs, while Dougherty got on base in all three of his plate appearances with two stolen bases and three runs. Those four stolen bases gave Ferguson a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Blake Demman, who went 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Omaha Central was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .409. They are 3-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Omaha Central's record now sits at 13-14. As for South Sioux City, their loss was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 6-10.
