The Englewood Pirates will look to defend their home court on Thursday against the Platte Canyon Huskies at 5:30 p.m. Platte Canyon took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Englewood, who comes in off a win.

Last Tuesday, Englewood didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Arvada, but they still walked away with a 40-35 victory. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Englewood.

Englewood's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Willow Levicki, who scored six points along with eight rebounds and three steals. Alex Harkness was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with three steals.

Meanwhile, Platte Canyon unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Tuesday. They took a 38-24 bruising from Jefferson. Platte Canyon has struggled against Jefferson recently, as their contest on Tuesday was their third consecutive lost matchup.

Despite the defeat, Platte Canyon had strong showings from Sydney Curtis, who scored six points along with five steals, and Caley Erickson, who scored six points along with five rebounds. Another player making a difference was Ily Hardey, who scored four points along with 12 rebounds.

Englewood's victory bumped their record up to 9-11. As for Platte Canyon, their loss ended an eight-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 10-4.

This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Englewood have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 32.2 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Platte Canyon struggles in that department as they've been averaging 34.7 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.

Englewood strolled past Platte Canyon when the teams last played back in February of 2023 by a score of 39-24. Will Englewood repeat their success, or does Platte Canyon have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
