Basketball Game Preview: Lake Gibson Braves vs. Sebring Blue Streaks

The Lake Gibson Braves will take on the Sebring Blue Streaks in a tournament on Saturday. Lake Gibson knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past ten matchups -- so hopefully Sebring likes a good challenge.

Lake Gibson took a loss when they played away from home last Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Thursday. They walked away with a 77-67 win over Kathleen.

Lake Gibson found their leader in sophomore A'Darrion Willis, who posted 30 points. Willis' evening made it five games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jeremiah Epps, who scored 13 points.

Meanwhile, Sebring came up short against Avon Park on Friday and fell 87-74. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Tuesday (63), the Blue Streaks still had to take the loss.

Lake Gibson pushed their record up to 8-14 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.7 points per game. As for Sebring, their loss dropped their record down to 8-12.

Lake Gibson took a serious blow against Sebring in their previous meeting back in February of 2021, falling 92-59. Thankfully for Lake Gibson, Marshall O'Hern (who went 9 for 16 en route to 25 points in addition to six assists and five boards) won't be suiting up this time.
