Softball Recap: Beallsville Blue Devils vs. Shadyside Tigers
Beallsville extended their losing streak to five on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 3-8 in the process. They came up short against the Shadyside Tigers, falling 17-4. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Tigers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 12-2 on Monday.
Beallsville saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Tayla Decker, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one run and one RBI.
As for Shadyside, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 10-7 record this season. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
On Shadyside's side, Isabells DeFelice made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. DeFelice has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 1-for-1 with three RBI. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Shadyside got a massive performance out of Kara Zeroski, who got on base in five of her six plate appearances with three stolen bases, four runs, and one triple. The dominant performance also gave Zeroski a new career-high in RBI (two). Josey Greenwood also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.
Looking ahead, Beallsville will square off against Caldwell at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Shadyside, they will take on Monroe Central at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
