Baseball Game Preview: Wake Forest Cougars vs. Cedar Ridge Fighting Red Wolves

The Wake Forest Cougars will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against the Cedar Ridge Fighting Red Wolves at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Wake Forest will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.

On Saturday, Wake Forest needed a bit of extra time to put away J.H. Rose. They won by a run and slipped past the Rampants 7-6.

Carson Crider looked comfortable as he pitched 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits.

At the plate, Stephen Crater was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Ian Williams, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-4.

Wake Forest kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits every time they've taken the field this season.

Meanwhile, everything went Cedar Ridge's way against South Granville on Friday as Cedar Ridge made off with an 11-1 victory.

Wake Forest pushed their record up to 3-0 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.6 runs on average over those games. As for Cedar Ridge, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-2.

Wake Forest was able to grind out a solid win over Cedar Ridge in their previous meeting back in March of 2024, winning 3-0. Does Wake Forest have another victory up their sleeve, or will Cedar Ridge turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
