Mexia enjoyed a cozy 45-26 victory over Buffalo on Friday. The Black Cats pushed the score to 35-11 by the end of the third, a deficit the Bison cut but never quite recovered from.

Meanwhile, Groesbeck was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They were two points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 42-40 heartbreaker at the hands of Westwood.

Mexia has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 11-6 record this season. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 28.4 points per game. As for Groesbeck, their loss dropped their record down to 8-15.
