Basketball Game Preview: Laney Wildcats vs. Burke County Bears

The Laney Wildcats will face off against the Burke County Bears at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams are coming into the match red-hot, with Laney sitting on four straight victories and Burke County on five.

On Saturday, Laney beat Hephzibah 50-42. Given the Wildcats' advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 95th, while the Rebels are ranked 395th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Burke County's game on Saturday was all tied up 35-35 at the half, but luckily for them it didn't stay that way. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Screven County, sneaking past 77-74.

Laney has also been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten contests, which provided a nice bump to their 14-4 record this season. As for Burke County, their win was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 11-2.

Laney strolled past Burke County in their previous matchup back in January of 2020 by a score of 72-53. Will Laney repeat their success, or does Burke County have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
