Volleyball Recap: Maple Grove Comes Up Short in High-Profile Match with Rogers

Maple Grove faced Rogers in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Monday. The Crimson fell 3-1 to the Royals. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Royals this season, with their most recent loss being a 2-0 defeat back in April.

The match finished with set scores of 25-10, 18-25, 25-17, 25-15.

Zachary Garbow paced Maple Grove's offense, picking up eight kills. Garbow got some help from Ryan Patten and his 21 assists. Pengxue Xiong controlled things from the service line, finishing with three aces.

Maple Grove's loss dropped their record down to 13-12. As for Rogers, the win was the 16th in a row for them, bringing their record up to 16-1.

Maple Grove has already played their next game, a 3-1 victory against Elk River on the 21st. Rogers has also already played their next contest (against Centennial), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
