Baseball Recap: Madawaska Comes Up Short

After flying high against Washburn on Wednesday, Madawaska came back down to earth. The Owls fell 7-4 to the Katahdin Cougars on Monday. The defeat continues a trend for the Owls in their meetings with the Cougars: they've now lost nine in a row.

Madawaska saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Josh Querze, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three stolen bases and three runs. Querze is becoming a predictor of the Owls' success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 3-1 (and 1-2 when he doesn't).

Madawaska's loss dropped their record down to 4-3. As for Katahdin, the victory keeps they at an undefeated 8-0.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: the Cougars beat Madawaska by a score of 8-4 later that day.
