Softball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Sweetwater

Sweetwater entered their tilt with Castle Park on Thursday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They never let the Trojans get on the board and left with a 19-0 victory. That's more bragging rights for the Red Devils, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Tatyana Mosqueda and Gabriella Sena were major factors no matter where they played. Throwing, Mosqueda tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Sena tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Mosqueda has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 12 consecutive appearances. At bat, Mosqueda went 2-for-3 with three RBI and one double, while Sena earned one RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.

In other batting news, Ariana Tovar was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with four runs, two stolen bases, and five RBI. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in April of 2024. Aolani Aguilar also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.

Sweetwater's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-2-1. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Castle Park, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 0-6.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Sweetwater will square off against San Ysidro at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Castle Park, they will challenge Southwest SD at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Trojans' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Raiders have averaged an impressive 12.1 runs per game this season.
