Preview: Philo Electrics vs. Maysville Panthers
Philo is 1-9 against Maysville since February of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Philo Electrics will head out on the road to face off against the Maysville Panthers at 7:30 p.m. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Philo has struggled recently with five defeats in a row, while Maysville will arrive with 12 straight wins.
Philo pushed their score all the way to 64 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 83-64 bruising from John Glenn. While losing is never fun, Philo can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 636th, while John Glenn is ranked 238th).
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Rusty Trout, who scored 20 points. Another player making a difference was Drew Wright, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 13 rebounds.
Even though they lost, Philo were working as a unit and finished the game with 17 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Maysville strolled past Fairfield Union with points to spare on Monday, taking the game 65-51.
Philo has traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last seven matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-14 record this season. As for Maysville, they pushed their record up to 17-3 with that win, which was their eighth straight at home.
Philo took a serious blow against Maysville in their previous meeting back in January, falling 96-67. Can Philo avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
